Israeli forces demand people leave Indonesian Hospital
Israeli forces are ordering people inside the Indonesian Hospital in northern Gaza to leave immediately, our correspondent on the ground reports. Israeli forces are continuing to fire in the vicinity of the medical facility. Most of those trapped in the hospital are women and children – some are injured and cannot move at all.
But the move to forcibly evacuate the Indonesian Hospital and the attacks on other nearby health centres come as the Israeli army expands its operations in the northern Gaza Strip.
Five Palestinians killed in Israeli attack near al-Shifa Hospital
Our colleagues at Al Jazeera Arabic report five people have been killed and others injured in an Israeli attack near the entrance of Gaza City’s al-Shifa Hospital. Videos posted online by witnesses and verified by Al Jazeera show the chaotic aftermath of the strike, with rubble strewn on the ground outside the hospital and victims of the attack being lifted onto stretchers.
Israeli claims ‘terrorists’ targeted in deadly attacks on Gaza shelters
The Israeli military says it launched air strikes on 40 sites across the Gaza Strip over the past day, claiming all were “terrorist gathering points and Hamas command and control centres”.
Dozens of Palestinian fighters “operated from within these areas”. It confirmed some of the targets it struck were schools turned into shelters, many of which it has destroyed since the start of the war on Gaza.
As we reported earlier, at least 70 Palestinians were confirmed killed as a result of the attacks on Thursday, with the real number expected to be much higher. The intensified strikes come as Israeli and Hamas delegations are expected to hold mediated talks in Qatar today.
Israeli troops attacking vicinity of al-Awda Hospital
Israeli forces are intensively shelling the vicinity of al-Awda Hospital in central Gaza, our correspondent on the ground reports.
A UN report this week said there were at least 136 Israeli attacks on 27 hospitals and 12 other medical facilities that inflicted significant casualties among doctors, nurses, medics, and other civilians while causing significant damage to, if not the complete destruction of, civilian infrastructure.
The 23-page report looked at the period from October 7, 2023, to June 30, 2024. Attacking hospitals is a war crime under international law.
Israeli military orders ecavuation of al-Awda Hospital
Al Jazeera has confirmed that Israeli forces ordered people inside al-Awda Hospital in northern Gaza to evacuate the facility or be bombed. An hour earlier, two people were wounded inside the hospital as a result of damage to an emergency department in Israeli attacks.
The building is thought to be housing 96 people, including doctors and patients.
At least 52 people killed in Israeli attacks across Gaza
This updated death toll comes from medical sources in Gaza, which relayed the information to Al Jazeera. At least 26 of those killed were due to attacks in the northern part of the enclave.
