Children dead following latest Israeli attack in central Gaza

The Israeli military has carried out deadly attacks in central Gaza over recent hours, killing more than a dozen people in separate strikes on homes in the Maghazi and Nuseirat refugee camps.

Israeli fighter jets have now bombed a second home belonging to the Mishmish family in the Burj Bidas area of the Nuseirat camp, killing at least two children and injuring several more members of the family, the Wafa news agency reports.

The Israeli military has bombed the Salman family home west of Deir el-Balah in central Gaza, the Quds News Network and the Shehab news agency report.


Second Palestinian journalist killed overnight: Report

A second Palestinian journalist has reportedly been killed in Gaza, marking the second media worker killed in the enclave in the past 24 hours. The Palestinian media centre reported that journalist Omar al-Diraoui was killed overnight when the Israeli military bombed his home in the az-Zawayda area in central Gaza.

His death follows the killing of photographer Hassan al-Qishaoui, whose death was verified by Al Jazeera on Thursday.

At least 217 journalists and media workers have been killed in Gaza since October 7, 2023.


Israeli military carrying out shelling in central Gaza

The artillery shelling is taking place east of the Bureij refugee camp and the city of Deir el-Balah in central Gaza, according to an Al Jazeera Arabic correspondent on the ground.

Israeli gunboats stationed off the coast are also reportedly opening fire at the shoreline near Gaza City in the north.

Two bodies recovered after Israeli strike on southern Gaza

The civil defence agency in Gaza says its teams retrieved the bodies of two Palestinians following an Israeli air strike on the Khirbet al-Adas area, north of Rafah, in the southern part of the enclave. Two others were wounded and transported to the Nasser Hospital in nearby Khan Younis city, it said. A video circulating online also showed first responders bringing casualties to the facility.
