Blasts rock Yemen’s Sanaa
Explosions have been heard all around the capital, Sanaa.
Houthi news outlets say US and British forces bombed the mountains of Othan to the south of the capital, as well as other mountains to the east of the capital. There are also reports that a bridge that was bombed previously in the mountains of Othan has been hit.
So far, the Houthis say the US-British military campaign is aimed at undermining their ability to support the fighters in Gaza, but they say this campaign will not achieve its goals.
The Houthis say the US and UK should be putting pressure on Israel to end the aggression against the people of Gaza and also lift the blockade against Palestinians there.
Two US Navy pilots safe after plane shot down in ‘friendly fire’ over Red Sea
A US missile cruiser “mistakenly fired on” and hit a US Navy F/A-18 as it flew over a US Navy carrier in the Red Sea, US Central Command (CENTCOM) has said in a statement.
“Two US Navy pilots ejected safely over the Red Sea during the early morning hours of December 22 when their F/A-18 fighter aircraft was shot down in an apparent case of friendly fire,” CENTCOM added.
The report comes hours after US and British forces bombed mountains to the south and east of Yemen’s capital Sanaa, after a Houthi missile earlier injured 16 people in Tel Aviv.
Damn, expensive mistake.
US strikes on Yemen ‘illegal terrorist attacks’: Houthi official
Mohammed Ali al-Houthi, a member of the Supreme Political Council of Yemen’s Houthi rebels, says the US strikes “support the terrorism of the temporary Israeli entity to continue the genocide and siege of the people of Gaza”.
“The American terrorist attacks confirm the lawless rampage and criminality in the region,” he said on X. “The reckless terrorist actions against Yemen do not stop the support [for Gaza],” the official added.
The Red Sea has seen high military activity for more than a year as the US forces continue to attack the Houthis, who have attacked ships in the region in support of the Palestinians in Gaza.
The US army said it struck drones and missiles of the group over the Red Sea on Saturday and attacked its infrastructure in the Yemeni capital, Sanaa.
