Lead producer behind Wukong literally took to social media with a lengthy post expressing how upset he was that his game didn't win. Literally stated that he had prepped his acceptance speech for "Best Game in the World" (aka The Grand Award at Geoff's Advertisement Festival) back in 2022. Also been seeing a lot of Nintendo fans (on Twitter...) expressing their annoyance that the "Mario ripoff" won...you rlly just can't win with the internet.
That being said...Astro sweep! The game made by a humble team of 65 Japanese devs took home the big award. :) Team Asobi did the unthinkable! Never would've imagined a Sony platformer ever winning GotY, let alone be nominated! Such an incredible feat.
