Let's not get ahead of ourselves. Ubi is struggling, yes, but going private isn't the same as going out of business, and selling their IPs won't help them in any meaningful way.

Agreed, I'm pretty sure Mark Kern is talking shit as per usual. Don't see what logic there is in Ubisoft selling off their best performing IPs like Assassin's Creed and Rainbow Six, Lol. It'd put them in an even worse position and make them even less desirable to suitors. It's not like they're right on the edge of closure, they're just struggling.

The only credible rumour right now is that Tencent and Ubisoft are trying to work out a way to make the company private, Yves is aiming to make the company private but still wants to retain control (aka nothing will change because he is the problem) but Tencent wants more control in the company if they help Ubisoft do this, it's also reported that Tencent is willing to be patient with Yves because they don't want this to be seen as a hostile takeover which is pretty fair to Yves...More than he deserves after screwing up, but Tencent's patience is probably more to do with regulators.

If Tencent is willing to help Yves out then I don't see it going any other way than Tencent/Yves taking the company private.

Yes, Ubisoft going private is more or less guaranted at this point, as long as the Guillemots and Tencent reach a deal. So far we know that Tencent isn't too keen on the idea of keeping the Guillemots at the helm given that it's been their management that has led to this situation.

But we'll see how it goes. We only know a fraction of what's going on, and some of that isn't even "real", as both parties may be testing the waters to see how far they can go.

Oh, well. Time will tell.
