LOL this has been something to read in an otherwise slow week so thank you all.
Personally outside of the Gameboy I have never been a fan of portable systems. Even the Gameboy I bought the cumbersome add on that used a magnifying glass, had a couple lights against the display, and added a couple speakers to make that system more enjoyable to play and playable in the dark.
I use the switch 99.99% docked. I like to play on the TV. I have extra docks at most of the TV's in the house. I can start playing a game in the living room, move up to the office and then move into my bedroom if I want to. I can move from room to room with it as simply as just picking it up off one dock and placing it on another. No fiddling with cables because I have extra docks. Hell depending on the game I can do that without ever even pausing the game let alone power cycling the system as I move from room to room. TO ME it is a home console with portable functionality that I very rarely use. Hybrid seems a fitting term since it can be different things to different people. It's free for interpretation to each person to use it as a portable, a home console, or a hybrid of both uses.
Hybrid
End of the day I do not believe it is anything more than an unimportant matter of semantics. Use the Switch to play as you want to play as long as you don't want to play VR.
