Just to quickly recap events.
Macron called an early election to try to pit the far-right and left against each other so that his centre-right party can come out on top, it backfired and the left wing formed a coalition which resulted in them winning the most seats in the French elections, Macron's party came 2nd and the far-right came 3rd but nobody won a majority.
Macron because he is allergic to working with left-wing parties, decided to throw the far-right a bone by making a right-wing coalition and appointing a right winger as PM. This annoyed the left wing party because they won the most seats but Macron completely ignored them. Macron thought by throwing the far-right a bone they would stay out of his way.
Macron's new PM tries to pass a budget which both the far-right and left don't like, the PM decided to push the budget anyway through bypassing parliament, it pissed them off further and the left and far right united to do a vote of no confidence which resulted in the new government being toppled. Now Macron has to do it all over again and find another new PM.
TLDR.
- Macron calls a snap election.
- Thought he could easily beat both left wing alliance and the far right.
- Left wing won the most seats.
- Macron ignored the left wing.
- Tried to placate with the far-right.
- It backfired.
If he wasn't allergic to working with the left then this could have been avoided. Macron is an absolute clown when it comes to domestic politics, I wish he would just piss off to EU/NATO or something like that because I do strongly agree with many of his foreign policy stances but domestically he is an idiot who has some weird ass hate of the left.
