Depending on how good game is and my interest to it, I try to actually beat it, but if that's not doable (or I lose interest) I first look up a walkthrough/FAQ and when that's not enough I start cheating as much as needed to finish.
I want to see how game ends, even if I don't really beat it.
That said, I do also have backlog of 10-20% of games I've bought (including ones I couldn't run for technical issues and didn't bother to fight it).
