Palestinian rescuers tell international peers about ‘repeated Israeli assaults’
Representatives of the Palestinian Red Cresent Society (PRCS) have met with the head of the Geneva-based International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRCS) to discuss how Israeli attacks have hindered rescue operations since the start of the war on Gaza.
Palestinian first responders offered a view of the current state of the organisation’s humanitarian operations and also briefed the visiting delegation to Nablus in the occupied West Bank about challenges, “including repeated assaults and restrictions by Israeli forces, obstructing access to the wounded and patients”.
The Israeli military has systematically attacked the health system in Gaza since the start of the war and killed record numbers of paramedics and humanitarian workers.
Palestinian Red Crescent plans for recovery in Gaza, region
The UN and others have confirmed how Gaza has incurred tens of billions of dollars worth of damages due to Israeli attacks, leaving the enclave in need of the largest post-war reconstruction plan since 1945.
The Palestinian Red Crescent Society (PRCS) has unveiled a three-year emergency response master plan through 2027 to address potential scenarios in Gaza, the occupied West Bank, Syria, and Lebanon.
“The plan includes emergency and recovery services, ambulance programs, health services via hospitals, medical points, mobile clinics, and relief efforts such as shelter, hygiene, and community resilience,” the organisation said, after a meeting with officials from the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies.
