The fact that this rebellion is occurring right now is quite telling.  I'm trying to make an educated guess here in that the American CIA and other international agencies are probably funding these rebels so that Russia will lose on a broader front other than merely ukraine alone.

Türkiye and Qatar are the main backers of the Syrian Salvation Government. America backs the Syrian Democratic Forces which is a primarily Kurdish force who Türkiye hates. SSG are sometimes in conflict with SDF but they've sort of tried to stay out of each others way during these recent battles but it likely won't last for long, Türkiye has also been shelling SDF in the past week.

America doesn't like the SSG and Türkiye's support of them has been a major thorn between Türkiye and other NATO countries because we'd rather support the Kurds and HTS (the main force in SSG) is full of Islamic Extremists so if they take over we may end up with another Iran but Assad is also a massive scumbag who inflicted chemical warfare on his own people.

But I'd put money on Türkiye planning this for months and wanting to hurt Russia in Syria because despite the surface level bromance they like to display, Erdogan and Putin are in proxy wars with each other all over the place, they aren't friends at all, Lol. Erdogan just does whatever benefits him most and that makes him a shitty ally but one which doesn't have any allegiances to anyone.

HTS has been trying to display themselves as more moderate in recent years though in an effort to be internationally recognised, they've eliminated some extremists and are now enemies of both ISIS and Al-Qaeda, they even killed the leader of ISIS last year. However, we wouldn't take that as confirmation they have changed, it could all be for show and then once they gain power they go full-blown Iran/Afghanistan. It'll take a lot more than a few PR pieces and we'd need to see what they are like when they do takeover minority regions.

The HTS and FSA (Free Syrian Army, a faction of the Syrian National Army rebels) both raised flags in Aleppo which is a decent sign considering they have been enemies in the past, the leader of HTS had a video in front of FSA flags as well. HTS has also called on Alwite to unite against Assad and called them "the honourable members of the Alawites sect" and the Alwites and HTS follow different religions so hopefully it's another positive sign and not just them playing up the PR along with HTS and SDF mostly staying out of each others way.

It's a messy and complicated conflict with so many different forces and even NATO allies can't agree on certain aspects. For now it's safest to take the stance that there's no good sides in HTS vs Assad but the one undeniable positive would be weakening Russia in Syria and their operations in Africa as these are both regions Russia commits atrocities in and their African operations heavily rely on their Syrian ports. Oh and if Assad gets dragged through the streets it'll be one less sick cunt in the world.
