UN marks International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People
The plight of the Palestinian people remains the world’s longest unresolved refugee crisis and the people of Gaza, just in the last year, have come under the most intense bombardment of any civilian population since World War II.
Those were just two harrowing facts that the UN has highlighted to mark today’s commemoration of the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People.

Which countries recognise Palestine in 2024?
This year, amid Israel’s continuing war on Gaza, nine countries – Armenia, Slovenia, Ireland, Norway, Spain, the Bahamas, Trinidad and Tobago, Jamaica and Barbados – formally recognised the State of Palestine, reflecting growing international support.
On November 29, the world observes the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People, a day established by the UN in 1977 to emphasise global support for Palestinian rights, including self-determination, independence and a just resolution to the issue of Palestinian refugees.
Very telling map showing the countries that do not support a Palestinian state. Mostly the colonial fuckers of the world.
‘Beyond ceasefire’, creation of Palestinian state also important: Norway foreign minister
A demonstration has been held in Norway’s capital, Oslo, in solidarity with Palestinians at the initiative of the Norwegian Church.
The country’s king, members of the government and leaders of political parties participated in the demonstration, Foreign Minister Espen Barth Eide has told Al Jazeera.
“We must stop the war and killing in Gaza, but we must [also] strive to achieve the aspirations of the Palestinian people,” he said. “We have taken initiatives such as recognising the State of Palestine and supporting UNRWA, and we hope that other countries will follow suit,” he added.
The top diplomat said it was necessary to “think collectively beyond the ceasefire”, and work towards the establishment of a Palestinian state.
