Microsoft started this shit and we warned the guys who actively cheered for MS's insanity that what they're doing will push Sony to do big acquisitions of their own. If this goes through, it will be Sony's 2nd big acquisition, with possibly more to come from both sides.

But I'm not even mad anymore, because the industry (Including Sony. Excluding Nintendo) is moving towards multiplatform support for economic reasons. FromSoftware actually stands to gain from Sony's technical expertise/tools/multimedia power so if their games remain multiplatform, it could be a win for everyone.

Microsoft can prevent an "Elden Ring level" exclusivity by threatening to remove Call of Duty from Playstation, assuming they still care about Xbox hardware and are prepared to sacrifice software sales.

Sony is doing the bare minimum to secure Playstation's future. MS was going to make these acquisitions regardless of Sony's actions/reactions.

“Microsoft started this shit and we warned the guys who actively cheered for MS's insanity that what they're doing will push Sony to do big acquisitions of their own.” Microsoft went low, and Sony responded by going low. I will be vocal in opposing Microsoft’s behavior, just as I will be vocal in opposing Sony’s. I’m not interested in picking sides here: Both are in the wrong. You seem to be holding Microsoft to a double-standard.

”But I'm not even mad anymore, because the industry (Including Sony. Excluding Nintendo) is moving towards multiplatform support for economic reasons.” The problem — and it’s the exact same situation with Microsoft — is centralization of market power. It’s not all about exclusivity, but rather the monetary strength each console manufacturer has. Sony and Microsoft are buying the industry, and making it impossible for any competitor systems to stand a chance (unless you’re name is Nintendo).

”FromSoftware actually stands to gain from Sony's technical expertise/tools/multimedia power so if their games remain multiplatform, it could be a win for everyone.” yeah, this is a line similar to those who cheered on the Activision merger. “Oh, but Microsoft will save CoD and Crash and Spyro from the evil Activision!”

“Microsoft can prevent an "Elden Ring level" exclusivity by threatening to remove Call of Duty from Playstation, assuming they still care about Xbox hardware and are prepared to sacrifice software sales.” They really can’t. Microsoft is pretty much required to continue selling CoD across all three platforms according to court to ruling.

”Sony is doing the bare minimum to secure Playstation's future. MS was going to make these acquisitions regardless of Sony's actions/reactions.” Tragedy of the commons. Screw Microsoft and screw Sony. Both suck. Quit holding Microsoft to the double-standard: You support acquisitions, unless it’s from a company you don’t like.

All I’m gonna say here…i get very passionate about corrupt corporate practices happening in broad daylight.

I was and still am against major acquisitions of any kind (control and wasted resources are nearly as bad as artificial exclusivity), but I made peace with them knowing that things can get a lot worse and knowing there isn't much I can do about it anyway. Don't expect me to be enraged for a lifetime over an entertainment issue!

Inevitable reactions aren't as bad as the actions that instigated them, and context shouldn't be ignored. If you're against monopoly, then you wouldn't be so mad at Sony's acquisitions because the alternative obviously threatens Playstation's existence. Both Nintendo and current Microsoft are virtually unharmed by Sony's meager acquisitions. Sony with FromSoftware added to their lineup, would remain the weakest of the three by a good margin (without factoring in whatever MS is acquiring next). So what monopoly are you speaking of? Microsoft decided to expand like a maniac and Sony was inevitably going to react because they aren't suicidal. I'm sorry but this doesn't appall me!

Microsoft will be able to do whatever they want with CoD past the 10 year contract. "10 years" (was initially 3 years but their hand was forced) is practically nothing. Why do you think Sony panicked?

As I implied in a previous post, imo Sony "should" stop making big acquisitions after FromSoftware, because I think what they will then have is enough to keep them strong in the business no matter how aggressive Microsoft realistically gets. They will have finally achieved "self-sufficiency". Sony never had intentions to match Microsoft's acquisitions and crazy aspirations, but they are aware that what they have isn't exactly enough to ensure a strong Playstation/gaming future.
