Two journalists among five killed in Israeli attack on Gaza City school

We reported earlier that an Israeli air attack on the Fahd al-Sabah school sheltering displaced Palestinians in the Tuffah neighbourhood of Gaza City killed at least five people.

We now know from Palestinian news outlets that two journalist siblings – Ahmad Abu Sakhil and Zahra Abu Sakhil – are among the dead together with their father, Muhammad.

aaaaaaaaaaaaaaand surprise..

PIJ has finally admitted that the "journalists" killed was none other than the military chief of the terror group Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ), Mohammed Abu Sachil. Also killed were his son, his daughter and three other persons (most likely personal guards). They had set up their tents in a former school building.

Sachil took over the post in May this year, after his predecessor was eliminated.

Makes you think twice about all those "journalists" killed...

I guess you are referring to IDF claims posted in Israeli news outlets?

An Israeli military handout issued on November 10, 2024, shows Palestinian Islamic Jihad commander Muhammad Abu Sakhil. (IDF)

Google image translate turns it into Sahail, but the caption underneath states Sakhil.

I only see it reported in Israeli affiliated outlets. I can't find much else on him.

And here is his previous killing on March 29th

Muhammad Abu Sakhil of Gaza's al-Quds Radio has been shot and killed by Israeli forces near al-Shifa Hospital.

Muhammad Abu Sakhil, a Palestinian journalist with the Al-Quds Radio, was shot and killed on Thursday by Israeli occupation forces in the vicinity of the Al-Shifa Medical Complex in Gaza City, Al-Jazeera reported.

Yeah surprise indeed. Very confusing.
The wording also suggest his siblings were 'journalists', doesn't say this Muhammad was a journalist himself.

Anyway maybe the IDF got one right (or just lies to protect themselves) a broken clock shows the right time twice a day as well. It doesn't change the fact that far too many innocent civilians get killed in all these so called precision strikes. Did his kids deserve to die? The other 2 people? The wounded for which there is no healthcare?

Targeted assassinations are illegal in most cases, a war crime.

International humanitarian law (IHL)
IHL permits targeted killings of combatants or fighters, or civilians who are directly participating in hostilities. However, targeted killings are problematic because the targets are often far from hostilities or may not be directly participating in hostilities.

Otherwise lobbing rockets into Israel is legal as well, since with the mandatory military draft, everyone is complicit apart from conscientious objectors and those exempt.

This has to stop. Make a legal case, charge them and try them in court like a civilized nation.
