You make a good point. No idea how it slipped my mind that digital sales are not included here. So, Brothership could be as high as third best seller? Not bad. The drop in Mario RPG sales, however, is a little bit shocking: SMRPG sell 330k physical during JP launch, TTYD sells 150k physical during JP launch, and M&L sells 60k physical during JP launch. That's more than -80% difference from 12m ago.

But also there's the fact that this is the first M&L game on a console. Lot of Switch owners are gonna be people who have never played M&L before, and while Paper Mario is well known to Nintendo console owners, and SMRPG is a beloved classic, M&L is a new thing for many of us since it's only ever been on portables. Personally I have no idea what M&L is like, though I do plan to play the original on NSO which will help me decide if I might be interested in this new game.

Between that and the fact that this is the fourth Mario RPG game on Switch and the third in 12 months I don't think it's too terribly shocking that there is less interest in this one. Was a bad decision by Nintendo to jam so many Mario RPG games into the past 12 months, especially with the only new one of those three games coming last.

It’s low key 6 Mario RPGs if you count the two Mario and Rabbids titles, yeah maybe a bit of Mario themed rpg fatigue lol
