I don't think the high price is a reason for weaker sales. If so, the PS2 would have been a flop right out of the gate, but it wasn't. There is just not as much interest as Sony hoped. Simply as that! In Great Britain they are already discounting it to 659£, its far from sold out, Sony's unwillingness to produce more disc drives as they slowly move away from it does not help. Its far from sold out. I can walk in a random store and get it today if i wanted. Scalpers made the loss of their lifes by being forced to sell it clearly below it's launch price, i even saw an offer of 599 including a disc drive!! Yes sales where good, but the present circumstances don't paint the picture as a "highly successfull plattform, being contantly sold out". Heck, Sony wasn't even able being Up YoY compared to last year, not even 100k, despite the Pro.
