General - Global warming? - View Post

Don't worry, taking millions of barrels of oil, which are for the most part hydroCARBONS and which were taken out of the atmospheric carbon equation millions of years ago, per day and then burning them, thus releasing stored carbon into the atmosphere can't possibly have an impact. (Sarcasm)

I take small steps to help the environment which when added up greatly reduce my carbon and energy footprint. Even if you don't believe in climate change ( my prefered term) those same steps SAVE ME MONEY in the long run:
- eat less meat (the wasted energy, water and shit production involved in meat is incredible. How many pounds of grain does a cow need to eat so you can eat a pound of steak? Enough to feel many humains with grains.)
-change your lightbulbs to CFLs (Handle them with care, since they have mercury. less mercury then what is emited by a powerplant to power the extra energy incandescant bulbs use, but the mercury will be localised where you break it)
- get electronic and programable thermostats and program your heating and cooling a little lower and a little higher respectively;
- get a timer for your pool filter. Mine only works 6 hours per day;
- turn things off when you won't be needing them, including computers. even cars can be switched off if you will idle for more then 10 seconds;
- walk, rollerblade, bike places. It's good for you too.
- Telecommute when you can, carpool when you can't telecommunicate;
-buy energystar appliances;
- plant a tree

All easy life changes are good for the environment, are good for me and SAVE ME MONEY in the long run.
