Israeli military carries out ‘arrest campaign’ near Jerusalem

Israeli forces have carried out a “large-scale arrest campaign” in the town of ar-Ram northeast of occupied East Jerusalem, according to our Al Jazeera Arabic colleagues.

Israeli military operations have been reported elsewhere in the occupied West Bank, including:

  • Israeli forces have stormed the city of Nablus and the nearby Balata refugee camp, where Palestinian fighters have targeted them with an explosive device
  • The new Askar refugee camp east of Nablus has been stormed
  • The town of ad-Dhahiriya, south of Hebron, was also stormed

Israeli police shoot motorist near occupied East Jerusalem

Israeli police said they shot and “neutralised” the driver of a vehicle in the Shu’fat refugee camp, north of occupied East Jerusalem. They said border police “fired warning shots” as they “felt their lives were in danger” and when the car continued to advance, they shot the driver.

No police were injured. The suspect’s condition is not currently known.

It’s the second such incident in the area in as many days, with another Palestinian man wounded in similar circumstances in the occupied West Bank town of Anata on Thursday.

UN says 13 Palestinians killed by Israeli troops in occupied West Bank

Israeli forces killed 13 Palestinians and injured 26 in just eight days across the occupied West Bank, while Israeli settlers launched 35 attacks causing injury to Palestinian people and damage to their property, the UN reports.

Five of the 13 people killed, one of whom was a child, were slain in a one-week period between October 29 and November 4, and a further eight were killed in a single day on November 5, when Israeli forces carried out four military operations in the West Bank’s Jenin, Tubas and Tulkarem.

All the victims were shot by Israeli forces, killed in air strikes or “other lethal war-like tactics”, the UN said.

Israeli soldiers also hindered the Palestine Red Crescent Society from reaching one of their victims who was “left bleeding for nearly an hour” and was one of four to die in an Israeli raid.

Israeli settler attacks in the occupied West Bank

A number of Israeli settler attacks took place in the occupied West Bank, Palestinian news agency Wafa reports:

  • Settlers cut down about 70 olive, grape, and almond trees owned by Palestinian residents in the town of Nahalin, west of Bethlehem. Israeli forces and settlers have recently escalated their attacks on Nahalin.
  • Settlers attacked Palestinian olive-pickers in the village of Deir Jarir, east of Ramallah. Since the beginning of the olive harvest season, Palestinian farmers have been subjected to near-daily attacks.
  • Israeli settlers placed a caravan on Palestinian land in the village of Jalud to the south of Nablus, in the northern part of the occupied West Bank, in an apparent prelude to taking over the land.
