Israeli strike on house in Gaza City kills at least 9
Israeli fighter jets bombed a house in Gaza City’s Daraj neighbourhood a short while ago, killing at least nine people, our Al Jazeera Arabic colleagues report. Many of the victims were children and women, according to sources at the scene.
The strike is the latest deadly attack in northern Gaza over recent hours, following Israel’s bombardment of a school sheltering displaced Palestinians in Gaza City’s Shati refugee camp, which has killed at least 12 people.
Israeli naval ships shell central, southern Gaza
Our colleagues at Al Jazeera Arabic report that Israeli gunboats patrolling off the coast of Gaza have opened fire along the shoreline near the Nuseirat refugee camp in the centre of the Palestinian territory as well as firing on Rafah in the south.
The early morning shelling by the Israeli navy was described as extensive.
Local media also report that nine people were killed in an overnight Israeli attack on a house belonging to the Hamada family in the centre of Gaza City in the north of the territory.
Israeli warships kill fisherman on coast of Gaza’s Rafah city
A fisherman has been killed and three others injured in shelling by Israeli warships on the coast of the Rafah city in southern Gaza, according to our colleagues at Al Jazeera Arabic.
At least 13 others were killed across Gaza overnight, including nine in central Gaza City, one in northern Gaza’s Beit Lahiya town, and three in the Nuseirat refugee camp in the centre of the enclave.
Israeli forces kill 9 in Gaza City strike, bomb refugee camps in central area
There is a rapidly changing situation as the Israeli military continues with its military offensive. They have been targeting multiple, different sites across the Gaza Strip.
The bloodiest attack, in fact, took place in Daraj neighbourhood in the centre of Gaza City where we have been hearing from locals that a residential building has been completely flattened. Nine civilians have been confirmed killed, apparently from the same family.
We have been gathering witness accounts confirming that the attack, the strike, has left behind a great deal of destruction at the site. On top of that, we have been hearing huge explosions coming from the central areas of the Strip. To be precise, in the eastern areas of Bureij and on the coastline of Nuseirat refugee camp.
Four killed in Gaza City, two near Nuseirat
Six Palestinians have been killed in Israeli attacks on Gaza City and near central Gaza’s Nuseirat refugee camp, according to the Wafa news agency. Four of them were killed in a house near the al-Mashtal Hotel northwest of Gaza City and two others were killed west of the Nuseirat refugee camp, the agency said.
Several civilians were also injured in Israeli shelling of the Halima al-Sadia School in northern Gaza’s Jabalia refugee camp, the report added.
Hospitals in northern Gaza overwhelmed and lack critical supplies
We are in direct contact with people in the north, especially those in Beit Lahiya and Gaza City. Civil defence and frontline ambulance crews are battling to operate in these areas. They risk their lives by going to the sites of Israeli attacks to search for anyone who has been killed or injured.
The bombardment has not stopped in the past few hours in particular in Beit Lahiya, where residential homes and agricultural land have been hit. We’ve been getting testimonies that buildings have been destroyed and civilians are stuck underneath.
The streets of Jabalia are strewn with destroyed houses as the Israeli army incursion has not come to an end there. It’s been 35 days under siege. Shrouds have run out in hospitals in the north of the Strip, and civilians are now using blankets to cover those killed in Israeli attacks.
At least two killed in Israeli raid in Lebanon’s Nabatieh governorate
At least two people have been killed in the village of Kfar Tebnit in southern Lebanon’s Nabatieh governorate where Israeli aircraft bombed a building on the main road, according to the country’s National News Agency (NNA).
The building with residential apartments and commercial shops was completely destroyed, the report said.
At least 4 people killed in Gaza’s Beit Lahiya
Our colleagues at Al Jazeera Arabic have confirmed the killing of four Palestinians in the Israeli attack on northern Gaza’s Beit Lahiya town.
Earlier, Al Jazeera’s Tareq Abu Azzoum reported from central Gaza’s Deir el-Balah that the Israeli bombing of Beit Lahiya has been going on for hours, hitting residential homes and agricultural land.
“We’ve been getting testimonies that buildings have been destroyed and civilians are stuck underneath,” he said.
43,508 Palestinians killed and 102,684 injured in Israel’s war on Gaza
The Health Ministry says the number of people killed in Israel’s attack on Gaza has reached 43,508. The toll includes 39 deaths in the previous 24 hours, it said. Another 102,684 Palestinians have been wounded in the relentless strikes that began in October 2023.
The number of dead is likely far higher with thousands buried in the debris of destroyed buildings. A UN report on Friday said nearly 70 percent of those killed in Gaza are children and women.
