The diea of AMD and Intel mergin is inconceivable, at least to me. And also very frightening. They're the only relevant x86 chip makers and their merge would completely disrupt the market with one giant monopoly.
I don't think it will happen (even if it's only because of all the problems to decide who takes which position and which company is the one on top, the one that's doing well or the bigger one).
