That's not mutually exclusive though. Keep stocking the defense systems, stop sending offensive weapons. Put conditions on funding. Trump literally promised the opposite. Green card to let Netanyahu do whatever he wants while promising peace to Lebanon and Palestinians.
Trump is great for those that only hear what they want to hear. He stays ambiguous, makes jokes, stumbles over his words, so it's easier to dismiss the things you don't want to hear while stroking your confirmation bias with what you do want to hear.
And that goes both ways. The Democrats kept attacking all the nonsense Trump said and did, blowing it out of proportion while the Republicans dismissed it and just got more annoyed at the Democrat's vilification of Trump.
