Is it utterly useless? No. No it is not.

It allows games that have a dynamic resolution to hit 4k more often.
It allows games that have uncapped framerates to hit 60/120fps more often.

It's got vastly improved upscaling, vastly improved Ray Tracing which will come into play later on in the generation.
If you have a super large and/or high quality display, you will notice the improvements in "enhanced" titles.

Is it good value? That depends on you, the consumer. If you see the differences and appreciate the differences, buy the Playstation 5 Pro if you can afford it.
If not... The base Playstation 5 or even the Xbox Series X are still very competent pieces of hardware at a lower price (Although IMHO, still priced high.) and will not be relegated to the trash heap any time soon.

Is the Playstation 5 Pro future proofed? No. No it is not. The regular Playstation 5 will be the target platform. It's still part of the Gen9 console cycle and will end when the regular Playstation 5 ends.

You're missing the point or read the title and not the OP. I'm saying you won't be able to tell unless you get approx 4 times closer to the TV, this is great for a PC cause you're right up to then monitor but for an average TV at distance it means fuck all. I estimate you have to close two timed the reasonable distance to start to notice changes and 4 times the difference to really see the effect pay off, same way people have to zoom in to show the difference in comparison videos. Also, I'm saying at launch, sure it'll get better but right now it's pretty useless and especially useless for the price.
