Something SEGA innovated with Saturn and Dreamcast. The Analog sticks use magnets instead of moving parts so they never drift. More and more 3rd party controllers now are using them.

Nice. I've only ever had drift on the joy cons and the Quest 2. Do they feel different, like that mechanical keyboard feeling as opposed to soft clicks. 🤔 I remember the little red joy sticks in laptops back in the day, those felt really good, I bet they used a magnet.

Modern ones feel normal.  Saturn and DC ones had a different feel. Dual Sense is bad with drifting as well. I'm pretty gentle on sticks but had 2 Dual Senses drift within months to a couple of years.
