Ceasefires in Gaza, Lebanon remote with US election on Tuesday
Senior White House aides Brett McGurk and Amos Hochstein are in Israel for talks with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and senior officials about the wars with Hamas and Hezbollah.
The meetings were attended by Netanyahu, as well as Yoav Gallant, the Israeli defence minister; David Barnea, director of the Mossad, Israel’s foreign intelligence agency; and others.
But with the US election on Tuesday, hopes for immediate progress appeared remote – particularly in Gaza where Israel has come under criticism for not letting more humanitarian aid into the besieged north
“If the Israelis decide to stop the aggression, we say that we accept, but according to the conditions that we see as suitable,” Hezbollah leader Naim Kassem said on Wednesday. “We will not beg for a ceasefire as we will continue [fighting] … no matter how long it takes.”

Israeli army ‘severely damaged’ UNRWA office in occupied West Bank
Israeli bulldozers “severely damaged” UNRWA’s office in the Nur Shams refugee camp in the occupied West Bank, the UN agency’s chief Philippe Lazzarini says.
“The office can no longer be used. It was the hub to deliver basic services to more than 14,000 Palestine Refugees in the camp, including learning for children, health, sanitation & social protection,” Lazzarini said.
During its military incursion, the Israeli army also destroyed roads, water systems, and electricity networks in the camp, he added.
