Several explosions heard in Tehran: Reports

Iran’s official Fars News Agency, managed by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, has reported several explosions have been heard in the capital, Tehran.

Non-state media also reports that three successive explosions have been heard west of Tehran, with the cause still unknown.

Explosions reported in Syrian capital Damascus

Explosions have been reported in Syria’s capital Damascus, with Syrian air defences continuing to intercept hostile targets, according to the state-run SANA news agency.

Lebanese news outlet Al Mayadeen also reports that its correspondent in Iraq has reported hearing explosions on the outskirts of Diyala and Salah Al-Din governorates.

As we’ve been reporting, large explosions have also been reported on the outskirts of the Iranian capital Tehran.

Israeli military confirms it has launched attacks on Iran

The Israeli military has now confirmed that is is conducting attacks on military targets.

Here’s the full statement, published by Arabic spokesperson Avichay Adraee:

  • The [Israeli military] is currently attacking with precision military targets in Iran in response to the Iranian regime’s ongoing attacks against the State of Israel over the past few months.
  • The [Israeli military] is on alert offensively and defensively as we follow developments from Iran and its proxies.
  • The [Israeli military] is conducting an ongoing situational assessment and at this stage there has been no change in the Home Front Command’s instructions.
  • We must continue to be vigilant and obey the instructions of the Home Front Command in order to inform the public of any new developments immediately.

Hagari: Israel’s ‘defensive and offensive capabilities are fully mobilised’

Israeli military spokesperson Daniel Hagari has released a video statement confirming that Israeli forces are “conducting precise strikes on military targets in Iran”.

“The regime in Iran and its proxies in the region have been relentlessly attacking Israel since October 7th – on seven fronts – including direct attacks from Iranian soil,” he said in a post on X.

“Like every other sovereign country in the world, the State of Israel has the right and the duty to respond,” Hagari added.

He also stated that Israel’s “defensive and offensive capabilities are fully mobilised”.
