I think this is optimistic. 

Even if nothing terrible would have happened over his presidency, there's no guarantee that there wouldn't be someone else to take Trump's place by this point in time. 

And I think plenty of bad things would have happened if he were president. For instance, I doubt Ukraine would be where it is, if Trump were president. I bet Palestine would be in an even worse state.
