Resident Evil followed by Gran Turismo.
The first time I saw a Playstation in person was in a gaming centre where people played Tekken 2, Crash Bandicoot, and Resident Evil. I just couldn't believe my eyes.
Final Fantasy 8 had a big impact on me because it was my first full RPG, and those cutscene transitions were mad impressive. But its effect was gradual.
Metal Gear Solid and Soul Blade had perfect openings. MGS would become my favorite game of the generation (and maybe all time). Soul Blade's opening cinematic was so good, it instantly sold me on the game which remains my favorite in the series to this day.
