Probably could have got another few hundred thousand with an Xbox release but smart of Konami to have day and date on PS5 and PC.
I've never played Silent Hill, but I think I should.

I highly recommend this game! Players of the original will arguably get more out of it because they'll clearly be able to see just how many things were modernized compared to the original to the point that you're basically experiencing this game for the first time, but that means newcomers will get nearly just as much out of it!

Unlike the Resident Evil remakes, Silent Hill 2 remake doesn't have the campiness or cheesiness that the RE remakes still retain. Don't get me wrong, I love the hell out of the RE remakes, but experiencing how serious SH2 is presented has a MUCH deeper effect on you. This game is much scarier!

And JFC, the audio design is a damn masterpiece!!! You MUST play this game with headphones on! I'm playing on PC, but I hear the PS5 version adds a lot of ambient sounds (like wind howling) from the DualSense speaker, which I can imagine only adds to the immersion.

The game is definitely in my top 5 GOTY and among my favorite remakes ever. And don't worry about it being a sequel as if you're missing out on important context from the first game. SH2 is a standalone game with standalone characters. So it's a great starting point in the series.
