Are consoles superior bangs for buck though. Throughout a 7 year gen you have to pay for:

- 400 euro for the console

- 500 euro for being able to play online

- 75 euro for a second controller

- 10 euro more per game and worse sales

Now you can't make a fantastic system with 975 euro. But I think when the PS5 launched for that money a 2070/Ryzen 3600 build should have been possible. The paid online and the often 10 euro premium on digital console games significantly decrease the better bang for buck. Granted once in a while you do get a decent PS plus game.

I figure a second controller is optional.

PC is just more expensive by the time all the components are purchases.  Case, MB, ram, storage, GPU, CPU, OS, fans, KB/M.

Still need that controller as well for PC, PC comes with zero controllers.

And you have access to 2 generations of second hand games on PS5, 4 on XBox, which you can buy for cheap in game stores. Sure you can go further back on PC, however cheap XOne and PS4 games still look, work and play great on PS5 (or Series X)

You don't have to pay for online, ftp games also have free online if you need that itch scratched. I play single player exclusively nowadays, no need for online at all.

You can be frugal with both PC and consoles. Heck buying second hand PS5 is a lot easier and safer than buying a second hand PC...
