Lebanon’s Health Ministry says 60 people killed in 24-hours of attacks up to Friday

Lebanon’s Health Ministry said on Friday that 60 people had been killed and 168 wounded in Israeli attacks over the previous 24 hours, The Associated Press reports. Those deaths bring the overall toll in Lebanon for people killed in the past year of conflict between Israel and Hezbollah to 2,229 killed and 10,380 wounded, the ministry said.

Lebanon’s crisis response unit also recorded 57 air strikes and incidents of shelling in the same 24-hour period, mostly concentrated in southern Lebanon, the southern suburbs of Beirut and the Bekaa Valley.

Some 1,032 centres – including educational complexes, vocational institutes, universities and other institutions – are now sheltering 187,000 people, including 39,000 families, displaced by the Israeli ground offensive in the south, the response unit reports. Among the shelters, 837 have now reached full capacity.

Hezbollah says its missiles targeted Israeli military site

Hezbollah says it used “qualitative missiles” to hit an Israeli military base making weapons south of Haifa in its seventh attack on Israeli positions today.

It said the attack took place at 6am (03:00 GMT), adding that it also used artillery shells to hit Israeli soldiers near the Lebanon border, sent a “guided missiles” toward the Ramia site, and directed multiple rocket salvoes at Israeli positions.

Translation: Hezbollah publishes a video of what it said was targeting a number of settlements in northern occupied Palestine.

  • At least four people were killed and three wounded in an Israeli raid on Al-Bissariyeh, Sidon district.

Israeli military says Hezbollah rocket intercepted after sirens sound

The Israeli military says it shot down a rocket launched by Hezbollah from Lebanese territory towards central Galilee in northern Israel. There were no reports of injuries or damage in the attack, which set off sirens in the border town of Margaliot, along with a series of other settlements near the border.

Sirens are now sounding in the Upper Galilee as well.

Israeli army threatens to target ambulances in southern Lebanon

The Israeli army is threatening to target ambulances in southern Lebanon, claiming they are being misused by Hezbollah to “transport fighters and weapons”.

An Israeli army spokesperson alleged that intelligence has revealed “Hezbollah elements are using ambulances to transport fighters and arms” and warned that any vehicle found to be carrying fighters would be at risk.

“The Israeli army will take the necessary measures against any vehicle carrying armed elements, whether it is an ambulance or otherwise,” the spokesperson said in the threat.
