Five Palestinians killed in Israeli attack on Khan Younis

Our colleagues at Al Jazeera Arabic are reporting that Israeli forces have bombed a house in the al-Fakhari area of Khan Younis in southern Gaza, killing at least five people.

The killings came as Israel’s military continues its attacks across the Gaza Strip, including a devastating siege on the northern parts of the enclave and air raids on areas near the central Nuseirat camp.

Earlier, at least three people were killed in Jabalia in northern Gaza, according to the Wafa news agency.

Three children, including 7-month-old baby, among Khan Younis victims

Earlier, we reported that Israeli fighter jets bombed a house in the al-Fakhari neighbourhood of Khan Younis, southern Gaza, killing five people. Now, the Wafa news agency reports that three children, a seven-month-old girl among them, have been killed, along with their mother and father – named Saqr al-Amur.

Israel’s deadly ground assault on northern Gaza continues

Talking to sources on the ground in the battered Jabalia refugee camp, the Israeli military is actively operating. The camp is surrounded and the army has called in more reinforcements.

The military has waged a deadly campaign of air raids on homes. In one of the latest attacks, three Palestinians were killed. The streets of Jabalia are completely strewn with rubble from destroyed high-rise blocks.

The civil defence agency reports the Israelis destroyed key public infrastructure throughout the camp. Some families managed to flee to Beit Lahiya, but they are now trapped there.

The military plan is to isolate Jabalia, Beit Lahiya, and Beit Hanoon from Gaza City, and force residents to flee to the south in order to control the northern Strip.

Qassam Brigades claims attacks on Israeli tanks, troops in north Gaza

The armed wing of Hamas says its fighters targeted Israeli military vehicles and soldiers as they advanced in their latest ground invasion of northern Gaza.

Qassam Brigades said Palestinian fighters used an explosive device to “destroy” a Merkava tank of the Israeli military in the az-Zahra neighbourhood, west of Jabalia, which is being besieged. A second explosive device targeted another in the same area, it said.

The group added its fighters also launched mortar rounds towards Israeli soldiers gathering east of Jabalia refugee camp.

Israeli military says drone launched from Gaza shot down

The Israeli military says a drone launched from inside the Gaza Strip crossed into Israeli territory before being shot down. The unnamed aircraft inflicted no deaths or damage, it said, without giving more details.

Hamas fighters claim major ambush on Israeli forces in northern Gaza

The armed wing of Hamas says it successfully conducted a “complex ambush” that saw multiple Israeli armoured vehicles and soldiers hit east of besieged Jabalia in northern Gaza.

The Qassam Brigades said a convoy consisting of 12 military vehicles and a truck loaded with soldiers was targeted with multiple explosive devices.

“After that, our fighters advanced towards the ambush area and finished off the remaining soldiers from zero distance with light weapons. They targeted a number of soldiers who fled the area towards a house with an antipersonnel explosive device, killing and wounding them.”

The Israeli military has not commented on the incident yet.

Gaza’s death toll rises

At least 42,065 people have been killed and 97,886 wounded in Israeli military attacks on Gaza since October 7, the enclave’s Health Ministry says.

Of those, 55 Palestinians were killed and 166 wounded in the latest 24-hour reporting period, the ministry added.
