Hezbollah says it targeted Israeli position south of Maroun al-Ras

Hezbollah says it targeted Israeli soldiers with rocket fire south of Maroun al-Ras in southern Lebanon.

Israeli forces raised a flag in the town near the Blue Line on Tuesday. Israeli Energy Minister Eli Cohen said on X the army “occupied” Maroun al-Ras and “destroyed the houses from which Hezbollah launched anti-tank missiles at the citizens of Israel”.

However, an official from the UNIFIL peacekeeping force reportedly said the Israeli army had withdrawn from the town after raising the flag.

Israeli military says 230 Hezbollah, Hamas targets hit in past day

The Israeli military reports soldiers have engaged in close-quarters ground fighting in both Lebanon and the Gaza Strip in the past day, while fighter jets and drones dropped many bombs on both territories.

The air force attacked about 185 Hezbollah and 45 Hamas targets including buildings, rocket launchers and fighters. It also released aerial footage of an air strike on Lebanon.

Hezbollah says ‘clashes’ with Israel troops in south Lebanon

Hezbollah says it is fighting Israeli troops in a border area in southern Lebanon, as Israel intensifies its ground offensive against the Iran-backed armed group.

The Lebanese group fired rockets and artillery shells “as Israeli troops tried to advance in the Meiss el-Jabal area from several directions”, it said. “Clashes are ongoing.”

Hezbollah said earlier its fighters had repelled two Israeli army attempts to infiltrate Lebanese territory near other frontier villages.

Two people killed in northern Israel by Hezbollah rocket fire

A man and a woman were killed in the northern Israeli town of Kiryat Shmona after it was hit by a rocket barrage from Hezbollah in Lebanon, Israel’s ambulance service says.

The deaths follow a spate of rocket fire over the past few days as Hezbollah responds to Israeli strikes inside Lebanon.

“We found a man and a woman, aged around 40 years old, unconscious and injured by shrapnel. We carried out medical examinations, but their injuries were serious and we had to declare them dead on the spot,” said emergency service provider Magen David Adom in a statement.

Kiryat Shmona residents asked to leave town after deadly Hezbollah attack

A spokesperson for the Kiryat Shmona municipality says authorities are asking residents in the Israeli town near the Lebanese border to leave after a Hezbollah rocket attack earlier in the day that killed two people.

“We were afraid of this all the time,” the spokesperson told Israeli Army Radio. “Today we have 2,000 people in Kiryat Shmona – 2,000 people too many. We are asking them to leave the city.”
