And Death Stranding got it at 82. I just think being a remake lowers SH2's chances, so it needed to score even higher to compensate.

That's a good point. The only remake that scored an 87 on MC that was nominated for GOTY was FF7 Remake. It's possible, but a low likelihood.

I did and I loved it back in the day, but it's been about 20 years since I last played the original. The presentation from what I've played so far is so much more realistic and mature than the original. The original was definitely a product of its day lol. Like the way the characters talked and acted is pretty cartoony compared to today's standards, which was one of the more immediate things I noticed. 

The RE remakes still have that campiness to them, specifically comparing RE2 since that was purely survival horror, but Bloober did a lot to try to remove that aspect of SH2, and so far, they've done a great job. This game feels like a proper modern survival horror experience.
