Tbh I'm not entirely sure how much of the remaining area is damaged. I know Asheville has been crippled severely, and the remaining people are waiting for aid.
One story I'm hearing is that there's going to be some form of gov land grab?, but I always thought the gov had control of most US mines (land and all that).
Mankind, in its arrogance and self-delusion, must believe they are the mirrors to God in both their image and their power. If something shatters that mirror, then it must be totally destroyed.
