The base is quite fine. The intention was to show they could hit it, obviously as seen by the evidence, not to destroy it.
Shit is serious, but no WW3. What could definitely happen is another oil crisis. But that won't be as bad as in the seventies, plenty alternatives nowadays. Gas prices might go up. Prices might go up.
Yet (apart from Netanyahu) nobody is interested in a world war. The ME however, Israel (with US help) can do plenty damage there :/
