Israel combat losses in Lebanon rise to eight: Israeli army

The Israeli military says its combat losses in southern Lebanon increased to eight as it clashed with Hezbollah fighters after crossing the border to target the group’s positions.

“The IDF (Israeli army) announced that seven more soldiers have fallen,” it said in a statement after announcing the death of a first soldier in Lebanon earlier in the day.

Iran missiles struck inside Israel air bases, no damage: Israeli forces

Israel’s military says several missiles fired by Iran hit inside Israeli air force bases but did not cause any casualties or damage without specifying which bases.

“During the Iranian attack yesterday [Tuesday], several missiles fell within Israeli air force bases. No offensive infrastructure or capabilities located on IAF [Israel Air Force] bases were damaged,” the military said, adding that no casualties or damage to aircraft were reported.

In Israel, a slight shift from the euphoria after Nasrallah’s killing

Meron Rapoport, an Israeli investigative journalist, says there has been a slight shift in the Israeli public’s mood after the Iranian missile attack.

Speaking to Al Jazeera from Tel Aviv, he said there are “cracks” in the collective euphoria felt following the assassination of Hezbollah chief Hassan Nasrallah last week.

“Yes, there were no casualties in Israeli cities and towns in the Iranian attack, but now the [Israeli army] confirms that military installations were hit, and the fact that we are now hearing from Lebanon that a soldier was killed, I think the mood is changing a little bit,” he said.

Rapoport added that people in Israel are “confused” and oscillating between wanting to seek revenge and hit back at Iran, but also feeling apprehensive about a possible regional war.

“A war with Iran is new and people are concerned. So the feeling is a little bit contradictory,” he said.
