These are completely different conflicts with different actors and histories behind them. In a globalized world, states are intertwined. That's why we see Iranian drones bombing Ukraine, Russian planes bombing Syria or we see US weapons systems being used by Israel and Ukraine.

On the other side, there are people with these exact traits who pay attention to Ukraine more. And that's fine. I personally can't follow the developments in the Middle East applying the same level of expertise as I can follow events in Eastern Europe.

I believe that a person not an expert or connected to the Middle East can't make profound statements on said region. Such a person, and I count myself among them, can only have a moral stance - intentional civilian deaths are war crimes, terrorist acts are the same.

An axiom you can take with you is: ideology is not a substitute for knowledge. If you apply your ideology, or political/IR theory, on a region of the world you are not knowledgeable about, you'll make the wrong conclusions. That's why area studies are extremely important.
