Israel intercepts drones from Iraq and ‘the east’

The Israeli military said it intercepted a “suspicious aerial target” that came from the east, without specifying the country of origin. The report came after air raid sirens blared in the southeastern Arava region.

Earlier in the morning, the Israeli military also said it intercepted “several suspicious aerial targets” that came from the direction of Iraq. The attack prompted sirens in northern Israel.

The military said there were no casualties from either incident.

Iraqi armed group claims drone attack on Israel

The Islamic Resistance in Iraq said in a statement that it hit a “vital target” in Israel this morning “using drones”.

The group, which is comprised of Iran-backed militias, has carried out dozens of rocket and drone attacks on targets in Israel as well as US forces in Iraq and Syria, in solidarity with Palestinians in Gaza.

The claim of a drone attack came as the Israeli military announced that it intercepted “several suspicious aerial targets” that came from the direction of Iraq. The military said there were no casualties.

It also reported intercepting another “suspicious aerial target” that came from the east.
