Well, we'll see how it goes.

Dragon Quest Monster has been on every Nintendo handheld from the Gameboy color to the Switch. They don't have the  Pokeball catching mechanic tho, You give the monsters meat to get them to join you. In Digimon you scan the monsters with your digivice, no pokeball throwing either.

The comment I read talked about Dragon Quest without specifying which one. For all I know, he/she could have been talking about the main series, on the NES.
