At the end of every single mission in campaign and I think before each mission too, I get the typical loading screen in videogames loading the assets and whatnot then a second one which is something like "loading server" and it's on that one which I got stuck in an endless loading until it eventually booted me back to the ship and I lost all progress in the final mission which is split into 3 parts (I finished the 1st).

I think it was opt-in when starting the game? I dunno I have never been online

It's the most generic thing that exists. There are 10s of thousands of movies and tv shows about the US military and war. Go watch any of them.
