You might even easily recollect images for these character in different versions: orginal Jill Valentine vs. Revelations Jill Valentine for instance or original 2D Mario vs. Odyssey Mario. Interesting non-generic character design does that. I doubt you remember the pink robot in a month. |
Different times different popularities. Master Chief is literally just Doom Guy, he doesn't have a good design, he has a generic one but was in a good game and from it became a good design.
Maybe, maybe not but doesn't mean it's bad design. The game failed is why people won't remember the characters, if it was the best game released this year, people might be saying the characters are great/classic designs.
