Just do it, don't ask for permission, fuck them all, what are they going to do? Trump may still win anyway and you're fucked either way, might as well take whatever advantage you can claim right now, it'd be America's fault anyway for putting Ukraine in a desperate position where they'd have to break the rules of their allies...America and Germany.
