Gender is a pretty basic part of identification.

It's usually the top option when you're making a character.

Pronouns are pretty much just another way of specifying that. 

To the people making that argument, there is a huge difference between sex and gender. But again, I dont want to get into the argument of the issue itself, just the impact it has on sales.
