(i) Is there precedent for Sony closing studios which deliver underperforming titles? I’m genuinely asking, I don’t think there exists such a pattern…but I could be wrong.

The studios that underperform tend to get closed.

Evolution was closed after Driveclub did poorly.

Guerrilla Cambridge was closed after Rigs.

Incognito after Warhawk.

Manchester Studio was closed after they spent so long, without a single game.

A lot of these studios though have a few failures under their belt. There's not a lot of precedence for Sony closing a studio after a single failure.

But games take a long time to make these days. Big question will be whether they support Firewalk through another say 5+ years of development.

You know. I'm not an expert in game development by all means, but from my limited understanding that I accumulated over the last 30 years of playing video games, I knew from the very first reveal that this was dead on arrival. There is nothing in this game that is appealing or feels fresh. Zero.

Apparently it was developed for 8 years. 8 years!!!! Come on, did the test players not say anything? Did they even hire test players in the first place?

This is not a game made from creative developers. It's the result of a brief chat between two financial officers at Sony during their lunch break envying the success of Overwatch, so they made a quick cheklist on a napkin in the office cafeteria. My best guess, anyway.

There's plenty of good out of the reviews. It doesn't seem like it's a wholly awful game. The gameplay sounds like it is excellent.

I think just overall, it's a game that probably would have been better off coming out like 8 years ago.
