The 54th best seller on PSN launch day probably is not a good sign either. |
it was #1 in my country and my country doesn't really buy anything outside fifa, dragon ball and cod. Yes It was surprising for me too, no I didn't buy it lol.
Now, I'm not saying concord is not a failure, I know it's a failure. I just think that just because Sony services are on pc we shouldn't take SteamDB as the only truth.
It's like Helldivers 2. Most of the big gaming sites and many haters use Helldivers 2 player numbers on steamDB to say the game has failed when in reality it's a $40 game that Sony was only expecting to sell one million (words from the AH ex CEO who still works at AH but isn't CEO anymore), it doesn't have a predatory monetization so you actually don't need to spend any money in it and the game sold 12 million as of march and is still selling on both pc and ps5 without a pricecut. They could end the servers this year (they won't) and the game still would be a huge success. SDB numbers are a good reference but they don't tell the whole story.
The Concord servers had to be part of the budget for the game, August and September sales will tell how much money back they made and at this point some money is better than no money lol.
This is just me making some math but based in the % of people who actually give a grade to games on PS (between 10%-15%) we can project the game has sold around 50k copies. A failure obviously and it's only a hypothesis but still way better than the "Look, look it has 600 players on steam and the sites that make estimations say it has sold 6k copies!".
