Yes and no. It’s great for consumers that there are so many games, from so many genres, built for audiences with many different skills and inclinations.

For completionists like myself, though, the sheer number of games is overwhelming. I want to play the best games of every single year, so I can properly rank, contextualize, and discuss them, but it’s simply impossible. There aren’t enough hours in the day.

Movie buffs have it easy. They can watch 30 movies in the time it takes me to beat one RPG
