Y'all have to see these gruesome starfish monsters coming in Factorio: Space Age
https://www.pcgamer.com/games/strategy/yall-have-to-see-these-gruesome-starfish-monsters-coming-in-factorio-space-age/
The developers at Wube Software are finally showing off some enemies from upcoming expansion Factorio: Space Age, and I'm going to go ahead and say that they're one of the best alien monster designs I've seen in years. Radially symmetrical like starfish, the five-legged crawling Pentapods are alternately disgusting and delightful to watch in action.

Vampire Survivors update rolls out new dark arcanas, but the best part is a retired guy in his rocking chair
https://www.pcgamer.com/games/vampire-survivors-update-rolls-out-new-dark-arcanas-but-the-best-part-is-a-retired-guy-in-his-rocking-chair/
The latest Vampire Survivors update has dropped a decent stack of new stuff to do, focusing on five new Arcana cards to activate that'll give you strange new ways to play the game. Most of the update focuses around a new challenge stage and the aforementioned new arcanas—the Darkanas.

Total War: Warhammer 3's dwarfs will be able to turtle properly in the next update, and the other reworks seem decent too

Creative Assembly's 17-minute chat about "What's next?" for Total War: Warhammer 3 in June explained that updates between DLC for its blend of grubby fantasy and grand strategy would be more substantial, and we're seeing that now with a dev blog for the 5.2 update. Dwarfs are getting a new feature, Chaos Cults are being reworked, Cathay's Ivory Roads are being updated, and a "mini feature" called Unusual Locations is being added, all of which sound pretty neat.

Design little towns for adorable vegetable people in this cute sandbox

A cute little building game released this week called Gourdlets, all about designing cozy towns for little vegetable people to walk around and enjoy themselves in. Made by solo designer AuntyGames, we first saw a simple demo of it back in 2022, but this full release is way richer with stuff to build and quality of life delights.

'Don't get lacerated!' is a bullet-point feature in limb-lopping survival horror game The Lacerator

DreadXP has announced it's publishing a new horror game from Brazilian Studio Games From the Abyss called The Lacerator, and it's a wilfully old school survival horror experience. As the mature content description on its Steam page warns, "This game contains scenes of explicit violence and gore, also contains sensitive themes and tank controls".

You can now watch all 14 weapon previews for Monster Hunter Wilds
https://www.pcgamer.com/games/you-can-now-see-all-14-weapon-previews-for-monster-hunter-wilds/
If you, like me, were waiting to watch all those delicious short clips of Monster Hunter Wilds weapons until you could watch them all in one go... then today's your day. These are some of the only looks at Monster Hunter Wilds we've seen in a while now, and people are so hungry for them that they're racking up millions of views even though they're pretty much the same weapons we've seen in Monster Hunter games for years now, just with some fancy new animations.

Go on roguelike dives to keep evil gods asleep in Feed the Deep
https://www.pcgamer.com/games/roguelike/go-on-roguelike-dives-to-keep-evil-gods-asleep-in-feed-the-deep/
A new roguelike invites you to do some terrifying and claustrophobic diving in caves beneath the sea, which is either the least appealing thing you've ever heard of or an exciting premise for a spooky game with probably very little space in between. In Feed the Deep you go diving beneath the waves to find resources that you use to keep the cosmic horrors slumbering beneath the world doing just that: Slumbering. As opposed to rising from the depths and devouring mankind and all that.

The Future Games Show at Gamescom promises Civ 7 deep dives and fresh Rings of Power news, here's how to watch it

It's late August, and you know what that means: Time for an absurdly lavish videogame industry event. No, not the Geoff Keighley one. Not the other Geoff Keighley one either. This time it's Gamescom (which, thanks to Opening Night Live, kind of is another Keighley event). That's when all the world's games press, publishers and devs cram themselves into a Cologne convention centre and show off what they're working on.
>> Talking about Keighley, he has already warned that there’ll be no news about Silksong.
