Israeli evacuation orders force closure of WFP warehouse
The UN’s World Food Programme said it has paused operations and evacuated all staff at a warehouse containing 1,401 metric tonnes of supplies in Deir el-Balah due to recent Israeli evacuation orders.
“Only one WFP warehouse is accessible covering 3,158 mt of different commodities, insufficient to meet the August cycle of requirements,” the UN’s food agency said.
Palestinians still looking for remains of relatives at Gaza City school
We’re inside the al-Tabin school in the aftermath of the massacre perpetrated by Israeli forces against innocent civilians who were simply offering their dawn prayers. More than 100 Palestinians were killed here and dozens more were wounded. The school, where hundreds of Palestinians were sheltering, was targeted and hit by a number of missiles fired by warplanes.
In the school’s mosque, the extent of the damage is clearly visible – blood spatters and pieces of clothes, even body parts. People are still looking for the remains of their relatives.
And on the upper level of the mosque, you can see a hole where a missile penetrated the floor and into the lower level. Dozens of women praying on that level were killed and wounded. Here, you can also see some parts of the missiles fired by the Israeli jet fighters on innocent displaced civilians taking shelter in the school.
Despite the danger, many families have returned to take shelter in the school building as they have nowhere else to go.
One man who was sheltering in the building along with his ill son said his family had no choice but to return.
“My son is suffering from lung fibrosis. We hardly survived the attack. I carried my son and ran for our lives. By the time I got down, I saw hundreds of dead bodies blown to pieces, even scattered outside the school building, body organs stuck on the walls, horrific scenes, beyond description, beyond reason,” he told Al Jazeera.
“We have nowhere to go, so we returned to the school, where the most basic necessities of life are totally absent,” he said.
