I was. I wanted to talk about something that no one else was thinking that could become a possibility. 1. I noticed that it took a while for Barack to endorse Kamala and noticed that the news was specifying that Barack and Michelle endorsed Kamala. I thought it was odd to mention her. And I gave it a thought that if the democrat party isn’t afraid to change nominee then 2. what is to hold them back to change it again? (My thought process, not a question). I was thinking who could be an actual candidate with a big name that had a positive image from a normal person’s pov. It couldn’t Newsom, he’d be 2028 nominee and would think it would be a waste to run this time. 3. And I figured that Michelle, according to normal people, would seem as a strong central lean left figure option.

4. But I guess I was wrong again for thinking outside the mainline media left, center and right. Hahaha no big deal. That’s why people make guesses, because we don’t know what’s the final outcome.

5. What are your thoughts on her VP pick? MN gov Tim Walz. And why do you think she didn’t pick Josh Shapiro? (These questions are for anyone)

1. She officially became a candidate on July 21st.  The Obama's officially endorsed her on July 26th.  5 days is quick in politics.   That said, the videotaped phone call showed her wearing a tan suit.  The same suit she was seen wearing 2 days before in several interviews.  That means a couple of things.  A, they endorsed her far earlier than the date of the publicly released campaign video.  B, They slight delay was more about planning the endorsement video, staging the right suit (the parallel to Obama getting absolute hell for wearing a tan suit in 2014 is notable), filming the video between events, editing the video, scheduling when to publish. C, The latter was important so it doesn't over take any other endorsement/campaign news.

2. She gained the necessary delegates the day after announcing her candidacy.  That locked it in right then.  Any news agency saying it could potentially still be someone else after July 22nd, either wasn't familiar with the nominating process or was just stirring stuff up for clicks.  She needed 1975 delegates and by 10:15 pm that night, she already had 2,208.

3 and 4. Michelle has no actual political background.  An announcement by Michelle Obama submitting her candidacy would have been met with a small segment of excitement that would have been overwhelmed by confusion, frustration and even anger.  The same could be said of Oprah Winfrey.  And for the record, I have never heard any discussion for either as candidates EXCEPT from right wing media.  Jesse Waters and Sean Hannity have both said their names as potential candidates within the past few years.

4. Guesses are absolutely understandable and even expected but they are typically suggested based on some merits.  At least by serious news agencies and commentators. You will always see protest votes where someone writes in a celebrity for president but you'll never see them mentioned as a serious candidate for president (trying not to knock Trump here).

5. I haven't had time yet to dig deep into the potential VP picks yet.  I've mentioned a couple of names and that I'd be happy with just about any of the names that came up on the short list.  Surface level, I'm ok with her selection and I don't expect my initial reactive feeling to change much later on.  The selection feels vetted, scrutinized, made only after careful consideration.

1. Hmm she still isn’t the definitive pick given that she is still only a presumptive nominee. She just happens to be unopposed as most delegates are choosing her. Also just because you have all the delegates necessary does not make you the official candidate as the delegate only at the time of the DNC convention make the final choice. Which hasn’t happened yet.

These were sent after the virtual call (which I thought meant she would be the official candidate, but I guess I was wrong here too). Sounds like they are gonna have a lot of trouble getting on 8 state ballots then.

To me 5 days is an eternity in politics, things move very fast especially these past 4 weeks with an Biden vs Trump debate, Assassination attempt, RNC convention, Biden dropping out, Kamala becoming the presumptive nominee, the DNC virtual roll call, NABJ, Kamala and Trump debate difficulties from both sides, Kamala brings Gov. Tim Walz as her presumptive VP, baby drop in stocks, Iran starting to duke it out with Israel, etc. A lot of these things happening in spans of less than 5 days.

But I do agree that there could’ve been a discrepancy between editing and approving it before it got sent out, though usually most things are done live except ads.

2.She did gain the necessary delegates but the DNC have to reapprove and reassess those delegates at the DNC convention. She is still the presumptive nominee meaning she can easily drop out right now and it wouldn’t cause a big commotion still.

3.Wasn’t Michelle pushing for what she called healthier school lunches? And pushing for Let’s Move! ? Joining Forces? Reach Higher? Let Girls Learn? Going on Sesame Street, etc. She has a decent political background as the First Lady under Obama. She’s even been a lawyer. Plenty of political knowledge about justice and the U.S. Constitution. She was actually the only one leading in polls done to see who would win against Trump before Biden dropped out. So I don’t think there would be any confusion, frustration or anger.

4.Ive never heard anything from them or others. I don’t watch Waters or Hannity. And them talking about it years back wouldn’t have any bearing on me talking about it a week ago. But no worries.

5.I think she did not pick her best out of the ones who were working for it, that being Mark Kelly and then Josh Shapiro. But I do agree that the people were carefully vetted, scrutinized and the decision was made after careful consideration to reach the final verdict for Kamala’s VP pick, Tim Walz.
