Ah okay, I've only played Disgaea 2 (not the original) so it's all fresh to me comparatively. One of the things I enjoyed about Disgaea 2 was the characters though. I liked the fact that they were fairly straight forward. I can only take so many 4 paragraph monologues and "surprising" plot twists before I get tired of it. Having a character like Addel who was pretty much who he was for the entire game was nice.
Plus it made me laugh. Any game that makes me laugh gets bonus points. ^_^
