DOOM 3 Redux – 20th Anniversary Edition is available for download, overhauling over 2300 textures
https://www.dsogaming.com/mods/doom-3-redux-20th-anniversary-edition-is-available-for-download-overhauling-over-2300-textures/
Modder ‘Clear_strelok’ has released the 20th Anniversary Edition version of his Redux Mod for Doom 3. This latest version of Doom 3 Redux overhauls over 2300 textures, and it’s a must for everyone who wants to replay this old Doom game.
Doom 3 Redux greatly improves the game’s visuals with over 2,300 enhanced textures. It includes 700+ textures from Monoxead and Wulfen texture packs, plus new ones. More than 1,200 textures have been remade for Redux, usually at 4 times and up to 16 times their original size. Many texture sets have been created from scratch with high-resolution normal maps, and other textures have been redrawn (diffuse+specular) using the original normal maps.
The modder has improved hundreds of HUD and GUI elements, recreating them in high resolution to fit 16:9 and 16:10 screen sizes without stretching. He also fixed various UI problems, typos, and language errors.
And that’s not all. The mod supports common widescreen resolutions right away and gives better mapping and control options. You can also adjust texture resolution, field of view, anisotropic filtering, camera shake, and more. In other words, this is more than a new HD Texture Pack.
Doom 3 Redux also has many visual improvements. Players will see more and better dynamic lights, fixed errors in maps, and corrected textures. There are better materials and improved static shadows where needed. The sound is also better, with fixes for broken or missing audio, clearer sound effects, improved audio logs, and some optional new sound effects.
As said, this is a must for everyone who wants to replay Doom 3. Do note though that the mod is only compatible with the original 2004 version. It’s not compatible with the BFG Edition.

Someone is remaking Castlevania 2 – Simon’s Quest in Unreal Engine 5
https://www.dsogaming.com/pc-performance-analyses/someone-is-remaking-castlevania-2-simons-quest-in-unreal-engine-5/
YouTube’s ‘First Serve Gaming’ is currently working on a fan remake of Castlevania 2 – Simon’s Quest in Unreal Engine 5. And, earlier this month, the artist shared a video, showcasing 37 minutes of gameplay from it.
This fan remake will be called Castlevania – Symphony Of Horrors. And, what’s really cool here is that you can already download its latest version.
Do note that since this is a WIP project, it may have some placeholders or glitches. Since it’s not complete yet, it will most likely lack some of the game’s later stages. Still, this is something that you can download and play right now.
As you will see, this is one of the best UE5 fan remakes. Well, that is if you are a retro gamer. More importantly, the remake maintains the 8-bit art style of the original game. So, if you are a fan of the original, you’ll most likely love it. Castlevania – Symphony Of Horrors also uses the same 8-bit sound effects and music from the original.
The remake also has proper gameplay mechanics. Players can fight enemies, use their whip to destroy objects and get items, climb stairs, and do everything that was possible in all the classic Castlevania titles. This feels like a proper fan game. So, don’t sleep on it.
From what I know, Konami has allowed fan remakes of its Castlevania games. Nevertheless, I suggest downloading it while it’s still available. You never know what may happen tomorrow.

Fallout: New Vegas just got a complete first-person locomotion animation overhaul mod
https://www.dsogaming.com/pc-performance-analyses/fallout-new-vegas-just-got-a-complete-first-person-locomotion-animation-overhaul-mod/
Modder ‘Wombat’ has released a new mod for Fallout: New Vegas that completely updates the first-person movement animations. This mod makes the main character’s movements much better. It’s a must-have for anyone who wants to replay this classic Fallout game. So, let’s take a closer look at it.
Enhanced Locomotion updates all animations, like running, walking, jumping, landing, sneaking, and limping for all weapon types. It also fixes old problems, such as sideways jumps with melee weapons stopping all momentum. This will make some FNV fans happy as those issues were quite annoying.
As the modder noted, the mod has just the right amount camera and body movement to convey motion. The good news is that it’s not exaggerated to make you dizzy. In other words, the effects won’t be distracting. Not only that but the vanilla movement speed is kept on all animations. Players can also expect iron sight specific movement animations for minimal swaying when walking and aiming at the same time.

New Starfield Fan Expansion Adds Free Content & 3 Quest Storylines
https://www.dsogaming.com/pc-performance-analyses/new-starfield-fan-expansion-adds-free-content-3-quest-storylines/
Modder ‘Nell Drakebane’ has released a new fan expansion for Bethesda’s space RPG, Starfield. This mod, called Faction Story Expansion – Trackers Alliance, brings new free content to the game. Moreover, it adds three new quest storylines. So, let’s dive in and see what’s in store for you.
The first destination or the starting location of the mod is Tau-ceti VIII-b, where a Quarter of Trackers Alliance is located. There, in the building of the Quarter, you can find a “box” on the table of chief person of the Quarter. The box contains a slate of “Bounty 01”. The slate shows the first mission and its location.
When you finish each dungeon (eliminating the Boss and a Fraud Capitalist), you will find a relatively neat room, which belongs to the fraud capitalist. In the room, you can find a black crate that contains the next bounty and its destination. You will also find a special Laredo-based weapon.
It’s also worth noting that the Trackers Alliance Quarter in Tau-ceti VIII-b will provide you several facilities. For instance, you can find a large crate that contains basic weapons and armors of Trackers. There is also a Plant House from where you can pick up some organic materials. Moreover, there is a Food Hall from where you can pick up various food for free.

This 4K Mod for The Witcher 3 Next-Gen improves all of the story and side mission characters
https://www.dsogaming.com/pc-performance-analyses/this-4k-mod-for-the-witcher-3-next-gen-improves-all-of-the-story-and-side-mission-characters/
Modder ‘instanity’ has released a 4K Texture Pack for The Witcher 3 Next-Gen that improves all of the story and side mission characters. This pack is 500MB in size, and we highly recommend using it.
From what I can see, instanity used AI tools to upscale the vanilla textures. So, as with pretty much all AI Texture Packs, these new textures retain the art style of the original ones. At the same time, they bring a somewhat minimal improvement. However, as this mod is only 500MB, you should download it and test it yourselves.
The mod overhauls a lot of characters, so I won’t be listing all of them. Among them, you can find Ciri, Priscilla, Zoltan, Vesemir and Yennefer.

Founder takes down the Nexus Mods of romhacking after 20 years because 'lines were crossed' by 'a most dishonest and hate filled group,' but others tell a different story
https://www.pcgamer.com/gaming-industry/founder-takes-down-the-nexus-mods-of-romhacking-after-20-years-because-lines-were-crossed-by-a-most-dishonest-and-hate-filled-group-but-others-tell-a-different-story/
After nearly two decades in the biz, romhacking community lynchpin Romhacking.net is switching out the lights, putting up the chairs, and shutting itself off from new submissions. Why? Because, says the site founder known as Nightcrawler, it's "achieved almost everything it set out to do, and far exceeded it." But according to other figures attached to the site, it might be a bit more complicated.

A Fallout: London modder has taken it upon themself to cure the rampant dog food addiction that is more sinister than you'd think
https://www.pcgamer.com/games/fallout/a-fallout-london-modder-has-taken-it-upon-themself-to-cure-the-rampant-dog-food-addiction-that-is-more-sinister-than-youd-think/
One of the newest quirks players are finding in Fallout: London seems to be an odd addiction to dog food. There's currently no explanation for this, so one modder decided to take matters into their own hands and create a mod that'll do away with this addiction for good.
Aptly named "Dog Food Addiction Remover," it  was added earlier this week by modder Avislone. "I was rather surprised when I looked down to find myself addicted to dog food, of all things, and when I asked around, there was only some speculation on the Discord as to why it was made addictive in the first place," Avislone says in the description. "I took it upon myself to lower the addiction chance of all dog food down to zero, making it so that you shouldn't ever get addicted to a fairly common food source. It's debatably lore-friendly, per what the comments are telling me, so use it at your own peril."
